Doris Shiver Gibbs

Doris Shiver Gibbs is currently serving her seventh term as Supervisor of Elections, having been first elected in 1980 and reelected thereafter. She is currently serving as Chairperson for the Small Counties, Canvassing Board, Administrative Rules, District Two Legislative Representative and on the "Vision" committees of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections. Doris has previously served as Secretary, President-Elect and President of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections, being an active member of this association she has previously served on the Legislative Committee, Chairman of Scholarship Committee, By-Laws Committee Chairperson, Board of Directors and many other committees throughout her years of service. Doris is a State Certified Supervisor of Elections having been certified in 1985.

Before becoming Supervisor, Doris was employed at George E. Weems Memorial Hospital, Eastpoint Elementary School and worked for several years in the Seafood Industry as her family has done for many years.

Doris is a former member of Gorrie Chapter #192, Order of the Eastern Star having served as Worthy Marton in 1976, 1986 and 1997, she also held many other offices since becoming a member in 1972. Doris is a member of the United Baptist Church of Eastpoint.

Doris was born in Apalachicola, lived most of her youth in Eastpoint and attended Carrabelle High School, where she graduated in 1969. Doris and her family lived in Apalachicola for over twenty years having moved back to Eastpoint in 1996. She is married to Sam Gibbs and they have four children and seven grandchildren. She is the daughter of Jamie and Jeanette(Moses) Shiver of Eastpoint.
